HerStory: Claudette

“Thank you. I really needed this.”  This is what Claudette said to us when we did a photoshoot with her. And what a trooper she was.  Even though she was almost 7 months pregnant at the time, she was ready to keep going longer than even our photographer!

But she’s not new to being pregnant. She was pregnant with her 4th child and she home schools her other 3 children. Wow!

During the photoshoot, we asked her about her pregnancy and motherhood. Here are her responses:

Did you always want 4 children?
Yes; I come from a family of 5 children and I’m the 4^th so I really wanted the 4^th.

Will you go for the 5^th?
My husband says “Four and no more”. So, no; we’re done after 4.

How did you tell your husband you were pregnant?
We had been in our new home for about a year when I found out we were pregnant. My husband had been asking me for a "Honey Do" list so he could complete the projects that still needed to be done. I wrote out a list and about 5 items down I wrote "Baby #4" and put a check mark next to it. He at first thought it was a joke and started laughing. Then his jaw dropped in disbelief and finally he grinned and gave me a big hug. I got it all on video too :)

Any cravings this pregnancy?
Anything and everything chocolate!

What’s different about this pregnancy?
It's been much more tiring this time around due to the other 3 children. I sometimes need to sit and stop simply to remind myself that I am pregnant and take the time to truly savor in that.

What are your hopes for this daughter?
That she realizes just how lucky she is to have such wonderful older siblings and that they all are life-long best friends.

What’s one piece of advice you would give other pregnant women?
No matter how tough your pregnancy is, try your best to enjoy it. Although it seems like an eternity when you are pregnant, the time goes by quickly and believe it or not there will be a moment in time when you will miss feeling all those sweet little kicks and tumbles inside your belly.
