5 Tips for Self-Care While You’re Pregnant

Pregnancy can be such a beautiful time. It can also be incredibly stressful and strenuous on both your physical and mental health. After all, you’re growing a person (or people!) in your body. It has become increasingly more prevalent for women, and moms especially, to intentionally take time for themselves. Pregnancy is no different. Here are our 5 tips for some self-care while you’re pregnant.

1. Drink LOTS of water 

Staying hydrated can have all kinds of benefits to your overall well-being, both during pregnancy and beyond. This one is great because it’s super doable. A few tips to stay on top of your water intake:

  • Get a water bottle with designated water amounts- 8 oz, 16 oz, 32 oz, etc.
  • Set an alarm on your phone throughout the day to remind you to chug!
  • Keep track of your water intake on an app or your planner


2. Create a morning routine that involves some “me” time

Once that baby comes, alone time will be sparse and the best way I’ve found to find some time for yourself, is to create a morning routine with some “me” time built in. “Me” time can be anything from reading a book, to meditating, to journaling. Those are some great things that are meant just for you.

3. Get some sleep!

    Like “me” time, sleep is going to be inconsistent and lacking once the baby comes. While you can, sleep. Getting adequate sleep can do so much good for your mind and body. I recommend getting a body pillow- it just puts some serious ease on your growing belly and body.

    4. Move your body

      I know the idea of exercising seems like it’s too much- everything hurts and everything is swollen. Getting up and moving your body can do so much good! Notice how I didn’t say you need to workout- if that’s your choice, go for it, but know that just going for a walk around the block can do so much good. 

      5. Do something that makes you happy

        Mama, we do a lot of things for other people or because things need to get done. One of the best things we can do to take care of ourselves is to do something that makes us happy. Honestly, this may change from day to day, but I recommend doing at least one thing each day that makes you happy. Some of my favorite things to do are:

        • Binge watch something on Netflix (or the streaming service of your choice)
        • Eat ice cream (seriously, it’s the little things)
        • Crochet or be crafty
        • Go get a mani/pedi or a massage
        • Bake cookies

        Take care of yourself, mama. You are in a magical time- growing a person. Take time to celebrate this season and yourself.
